"L'dor V'dor" (from generation to generation), Mixed medium collage including snippets from  “Synagogues around the world” calendar and an altered image of Niki De Saint Phalle's sculpture, 9"x12", 2021

The two collages I'll be displaying, "L’dor v’dor" and "Reaching" began with watercolors painted by my mother, which I used as my starting points to reinterpret into my own visual journeys.   Through a spontaneous process of photo and paper cutting and intuitive mark making, the collages reflect on aspects of regeneration drawn from the various Jewish mystical and spiritual practices I’ve embraced this past year.  Included in "L’dor v’dor" is snippets from "Synagogues throughout the world" calendar and an altered image of Niki De Saint Phalle's sculpture.

Portrait of Water - mixed media sculpture & poem

Archaic eyes see
Waters explode.
Flooded tracks stops city
Commuters stranded
Nature’s fury strikes…

Gabriel dances in puddles
Angelic
with abandoned
Contentment

Time to go now
Dive into the waters
of the Caribbean
Melt away in the
cerulean sea.
Drift aimlessly
with fierce intention
Kissed with memory
water is life.

“Portraits of Water” was created using post consumer non- biodegradable formed polystyrene (Styrofoam) packing material as its base. The lightweight permanence of the material is encased to look heavy, sharply contrasting the ephemeral and transcendent qualities of water.

Fire, rebirth
Exuberance of light in memory.

Resilience
Light emanate
Sea birth.

Hidden allegorical diamond is temporary.

Life’s fire-roasted renewal,
The reawakening.

And rise sunrise waters,
Sea and sky arises.

Ashes box.
Light of incidental shine,
Milkweed a bursting.
Diamond Atlantis treasure.
